England and Wales Police and Crime Commissioner Elections 2016 Results

The Police and Crime Commissioner elections have now been concluded.

England and Wales Police and Crime Commissioner Elections 2016 Results

Conservative: 20 (+4)
Labour: 15 (+2)
Independent: 3 (-9)
Plaid Cymru: 2 (+2).

A good result for both Labour and the Conservatives and a bad result for the independent candidates. In terms of competition between the Conservatives and Labour, Labour gained 3 seats from the Conservatives and the Conservatives gained 1 seat from Labour. The Liberal Democrats did not contest any seat as they now regard Police and Crime Commissioners as a failed experiment.

Scotland and Northern Ireland do not have this post and as such do not hold these elections.
