Next UKIP Leader

First of all Nigel Farage is back as the leader of UKIP. Apparently UKIP's National Executive Committee unanimously rejected his resignation and subsequently persuaded him to stay. Losing him would have raised serious questions about UKIP's future, but these concerns will be put to bed for the time being. UKIP's next leadership election is due in 2018.

We have learnt in the last few hours that Kent Police have been looking into allegations of electoral fraud in the seat of Thanet South that Nigel Farage contested. We are told that these allegations have not been made by UKIP, but have not been given any further information. If these allegations turn out to be true then the result will likely be overturned and there will be a by-election.

Update: No evidence of electoral fraud was found.
